Winter’s cold doesn’t have to freeze your livestock water supply—this H-4810 Floating Tank De-Icer is built for that job. With 1,000 watts of power, this floating heater is designed for metal stock tanks and keeps the water open, accessible, and safe for your animals when every minute counts.

This economical model is thermostatically controlled, turning on only when needed and shutting off once the water reaches a safe temperature. That means less wasted power and more peace of mind for you. The design is floating (so it sits at the water surface), and although it’s intended for metal tanks, its cast-aluminum design gives durability and strong heat transfer.

Perfect when your herd depends on water every day—even when the weather tries to stop them. Install it, plug it in to a properly grounded GFCI circuit, and let it do the heavy lifting. When it’s cold, supply matters.

Features

  • 1,000 W floating de-icer (model H-4810) designed for stock tanks.
  • Thermostatically controlled: activates near freezing, shuts off when safe, helping save energy.
  • Economical solution for metal tanks — straightforward, reliable.
  • Cast-aluminum housing gives efficient heat transfer and durability.
  • Ideal for beef, dairy, hog or mixed-livestock operations where metal stock tanks are used.
  • Helps ensure uninterrupted water access, which supports animal health, feed intake and performance during cold spells.

Installation Recommendations

  • Place the H-4810 floating de-icer so it rests freely on the water’s surface before plugging in. Never run it out of water — that voids warranty.
  • Use a dedicated, properly grounded 120 V GFCI outlet; avoid long extension cords to prevent voltage drop and power loss.
  • Because it’s designed for metal tanks, verify tank type — if using plastic or rubber tanks, consider a model rated for those materials (check for “safe in plastic” rating).
  • Regularly inspect for mineral deposits or scaling on the element; cleaning improves performance and prevents failure.
  • In exposed pens or extreme winter conditions, protect the tank perimeter from wind chill or provide partial wind breaks — this improves efficiency.
