Automatic Chicken Waterer – 2 Gallon Bucket System with Auto Refill

Keeping your backyard flock hydrated has never been easier. This 2-gallon Automatic Chicken Waterer offers a hassle-free way to deliver clean, fresh water to your birds. Designed with four side-mounted poultry nipples, it eliminates messy spills, keeps bedding dry, and prevents contamination. Whether you're raising a small backyard flock or managing a larger run, this smart watering solution saves time and simplifies your daily chores.

Built from a durable food-grade bucket and equipped with a float valve system, the waterer connects directly to a garden hose. When the water level drops below the nipples, the float automatically refills the bucket—keeping your chickens hydrated around the clock. It’s easy to install, easy to clean, and built to last.

Key Features:

  • 2-gallon food-grade plastic bucket

  • Four side-mounted poultry nipples for easy access

  • Auto-refill float valve system

  • Includes 2-ft hose and quick-connect adapters

  • Connects to standard garden hose for constant fresh water

  • Sits directly on the ground—no need for hanging

  • Customizable height for different flock setups

  • Manual refill option available

  • Designed and assembled in the USA

  • Ideal for chickens, ducks, and small poultry

Cold Weather Tip: In freezing conditions, disconnect from the hose and refill manually. A water bucket heater (sold separately) is recommended for winter use.

Training Chickens

Remove old waterer for up to two days. Use hand to poke the water nipple to help a chicken or two see that there is water. Typically once one learns to use the waterer, the rest in the flock will follow.

Keep Water Cool

Run the garden hose in the shade to help keep the water cool. Freeze small water bottles and place them daily in the bucket to help keep water cool during very hot weeks.

Winter (Manual Refill)

During cold weather when freezing temperatures could occur, place a heated element in the bucket and feed the electrical cord through the removable cap which is located in the center of the bucket lid. This hole will also allow for the bucket to be manually refilled without having to remove the entire bucket lid.

Adjusting the Float

The amount of waterer that collects in the bucket can be adjusted by using a small phillips head screw driver to loosen a screw then move the float up or down. When the float is in the preferred location tighten the screw back in.

Installing the Waterer

The waterer can be hung by rope or chain. If using rope the Lark's head knot is a great knot to use because it grabs onto the bucket handle and minimizes side to side slipping of the rope. The waterer can be placed on top of a cincerblock or crate that will put the side mounted waterer nipples at the neck level or higher.

Care/Tips

Once a month, wipe the inside of the bucket with a wash cloth to remove any water deposits or dust that creeped in. The waterer will keep 15-25 hens well watered.
