I am looking for the top replacement for my older style CT unit. Will the new style, with the drop in cover, work?

Unfortunately, no. They are different sizes and are not interchangeable. The replacement tops for this older style waterer sold out long ago and Ritchie stopped making this design. If your waterer is old enough to have these parts discontinued, you got a good use out of it. It is most likely time to replace the waterer.
