At a fixed 9 in. height the only way to add trough is to go wider. Thirty-four inches is the widest single Hoskins builds.
How Hoskins builds them
Take the cover off a H9-34S and there is very little to it. 6 gallons of stainless, an insulated galvanized frame, and a Model AA element riding in the frame with clearance all round.
The RM 153 float-and-valve assembly, 3/8 in., sits in an insulated compartment of their own behind a lift-off cover, so a repair in January does not mean emptying the tank. The drain stopper is 1 1/2 in..
This one measures 34 in. across the body and stands 9 in. deep, carrying one compartment. Galvanized frame, 75 lb. empty.
Putting one in
The water line and the power both come up inside the base of a H9-34S, so one trench carries both and the stub-ups have to land inside a 17 by 34 in. footprint. Set a reinforced pad roughly 25 by 42 in. and stand it a few inches above the ground around it, which keeps muck from packing against the frame.
Electrically the Model AA element pulls 4.2 amps on 120 volts, so its own 15 amp circuit is enough.
Read your water pressure at the unit rather than at the well, and read it more than once in a day. At 75 lb. empty two people can set this one, which is part of why it ships by UPS. Hoskins puts the rating at up to 150 hogs.
