The housing for the HC17 horse waterer. Worth noting that the HC17 is the only Hoskins unit specified with the short 4 inch float rod, so check the rod and float while the cover is off.
Hoskins describe this housing as shielding the valve gear and holding warmth around it. Warmth is the half that counts once the temperature drops. A split or missing housing puts moving air straight onto the valve, and a seized valve empties a pen faster than a tired element ever will.
