Small thermostat
The control fitted to the A and AA heaters, meaning the A250 and the AA500. It opens and closes the heater circuit so the unit draws power when it needs to and not the rest of the time.
Two thermostats, split by heater rating
Two thermostats cover the whole heater range. This small one suits anything marked A or AA. Ratings of B, 2B, C, 2C or 3C want the large one. Go by the stamp on the heater, not by the waterer it sits in.
Detail
- Small body
- Brass housing, bracket mounted
- Line voltage switching, in series with the heater
- Thermostat only
Heaters it pairs with
- A250 at 250 watts
- AA500 at 500 watts
Symptoms that point here
A unit freezing with a heater that still tests good, or a heater that runs continuously and never cuts out. Both are control faults rather than heat faults.
