Needed this red inlet because our water pressure is around 50-55 psi. Waterer came with a green inlet for higher pressure - 60+. With the green inlet, the water would take a long time to shut off and it was difficult to tell where the level would be when it did finally shut off. Red inlet solved the problem. Ordered this part because it included the valve for not much more and always good to have spare parts. Wish Ritchie included both inlets with new waterer or let you select the one you need.
